A celebration of literacy and community through the works of Stephen King
Stephen King Day 2025
The Hubbard is reaching out to engage businesses and organizations throughout the city to participate in a day of activities and events around the themes, characters, and settings of King’s many novels, short stories, and films.
This day will bring people to the city throughout the day to participate in events such as the Pet Sematary Costumed Pet Parade, the Christine’s Classic Car Show, themed food and beverages at participating restaurants, a Paper Boat float on the Kennebec, Paint Your Own Horrorscape, and more. We are looking for everyone to bring their creativity and imagination to the day.
The full day of events and activities will happen throughout the city, in such spaces as the Library, the Chamber of Commerce, City Hall auditorium, Granite Park, Vaughn Woods and Homestead, shops and restaurants, the bike path, and more. While we are not currently planning a parade, we expect that this day’s events will bring in people from around Central Maine to enjoy an early spring day of fun and horror.

More about creating and hosting events:
-
Create an Event or Activity at your location
You have an amazing idea for an event or activity that would be perfect for SDK25 and you have a place to host it - Great! We’d love to hear all about it. Complete the Host an Event form - you can use the QR code or find the event page at HubbardFree.org. We will reach out to you with any questions. All approved events will be included in the SKD25 online map and advertising.
-
HOST AN EVENT
You’ve got a great location and you want to participate, but can’t think of an event. Let us know, and we will work to connect you with a team that has an event but no location.
-
All dressed up with nowhere to go
You and your team have a great idea for an event or activity, but don’t have a place to call your own. Let us know! Let us connect you with an organization that has a space available for SKD25 events. and activities. You will partner directly with the host to create your event.
Sponsors are the real heroes
