Your Gift Transforms Your Community
The Hubbard Free Library is fully non-profit; every donation helps us grow, evolve, and serve our community. Whether you’re supporting through an ongoing financial gift, a one-time donation, honoring a loved one, or volunteering your time, your contribution makes a lasting impact on future generations of Hallowellians and beyond.
How your donations help:
-
Programming & Events
We strive to be a valuable cultural and community pillar in Hallowell. Your donation helps us provide a wide range of programming, including presentations on Hallowell history and the library’s historical artifacts, author talks, programs that support our city's cultural diversity, and children's educational (and fun!) events.
-
Library Upkeep
The Hubbard is housed in the oldest library building in Maine still serving its original function. The Hubbard is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is an iconic part of Hallowell and its history. In addition to our place in history, we serve as a repository of historic materials and artifacts and a resource for interested citizens and historians. Your donation helps support our ongoing upkeep as a living artifact.
-
Community Engagement
The soul of our library is our community of patrons. As a non-profit library, the financial support provided by Hallowell citizens through donations and the City of Hallowell are the only way we can keep our doors open. We aim to return that support with classic library services, and beyond. We hope to provide a meeting place, a quiet place, a refuge, a place of study, laughter, and inspiration. We strive to engage with our community while we serve as a cultural resource and a repository of knowledge about the world and our place in it.
